Tara Raani is a first generation Indian American queer actor, model and writer based in New York City. Tara is a Wellesley College graduate with a degree in computer science and film.  She is best known for her role as Zaara Ali on the television sitcom series “Grown-ish” on Hulu. Tara’s background is in sketch comedy and improv. She got her start in school theater and went on to executive produce and anchor the Wellesley College satire news show “The Boobtube”. After college Tara performed in web series, indie films and auditioned at an open call for “Grown-ish” which she landed.  As a runway model, she has walked for Burberry, Gucci, Balmain, Coperni and more. Vogue named Tara one of the Spring 2024 season’s breakout models to watch. Tara has been featured in Vogue, Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Paper Mag and others. Tara’s professional repertoire extends into commercial ventures with brands like Maybelline, Lora Piana and H&M. She has almost 400,000 followers on Tik Tok where she writes and stars in her own mini-series as well as she is currently working on her own short film.
